The calculator uses the terms you enter. It does not invent a local rate, rank caregivers, or hide fee assumptions.
Itemize every adjustment
Extra pets and holiday charges can be per unit or per booking. Percentage fees always show the exact subtotal they use.

What changes a pet sitting quote
Service type, billable quantity, pet count, visit duration, overnight presence, medication, holiday dates, travel, platform rules, tax, and cancellations can all change a written quote. A headline price is comparable only when its billing unit and included care match.
Dog sitting, cat sitting or overnight house sitting?
Use the unit on the quote, not just the service name. For cat or dog drop-ins, select Drop-ins and enter visits per day. For a sitter staying in your home, select Overnight and confirm the hours included. Boarding covers a stay at the provider’s premises. Day sitting and walks have their own quantity options. Species alone does not determine a rate.
Worked overnight example
Four nights at $65 are $260. One extra pet at $12 per night adds $48, a holiday charge of $8 per night adds $32, and a $30 travel fee produces a $370 subtotal. An entered 11% platform fee on that subtotal is $40.70, producing an estimated total of $410.70.
Worked drop-in example
Five inclusive calendar days at three visits per day produce 15 visits. At $22 per visit, the base service is $330 before any entered extra-pet, holiday, travel, platform, tax, or tip amounts.
How to check whether a pet sitter quote adds up
Enter the total printed on the quote after you itemize its rate and fees. The calculator shows whether the two totals match and the exact difference without changing either number. A difference is a prompt to check the billing quantity, discount, tax, surcharge, or omitted fee with the caregiver—not proof that either amount is wrong.
What this calculator cannot tell you
It cannot decide whether a quote is fair, whether a sitter is suitable, which taxes apply, or what a platform contract includes. Confirm supervision, visit length, cancellations, refunds, emergency backup, insurance or platform protection, and the final amount in writing.

Common questions
How are nights counted?
Overnight care and boarding use the number of calendar nights between arrival and departure. The departure date must be after the arrival date.
How are drop-in visits counted?
The first and last dates are both included, then multiplied by the entered visits per day.
What if the itemized estimate and written total differ?
Check the billing quantity, extra-pet and holiday rules, discounts, tax, platform charges, and any fee that may already be included. Ask the caregiver or platform to confirm the final written amount.
Does XYZ Pets supply a local average rate?
No. The calculator totals the written rates and terms you enter. Optional external sources are dated separately because geography, species, service, and methodology differ.
Is a private share link uploaded?
No. The quote data is encoded in the link fragment and is not sent to XYZ Pets. Anyone who receives the link can read it, so remove details you do not want them to retain.
